If you are a mammal lover and want to discover the wild side of Chiloé, at Parque Tepuhueico we have an exclusive tour of the 5 Little Giants of the Temperate Rainforest. During five unforgettable days, you will have the unique opportunity to spot the most elusive and cryptic species of the island.

It’s important to mention that this Tour is not for everyone; it’s designed for true wildlife enthusiasts, willing to explore every last corner of the habitat of these extraordinary beings. For 5 days, we will delve into the densest forests, in search of these miniature giants, from dawn until well into the night. Thanks to our infrastructure, equipment, and a team of guides experts in local wildlife, we will maximize every sighting opportunity. We have 20 trap cameras and wildlife trackers that allow us to identify and take advantage of the Hot points of activity.

Our mission is challenging, but the chances of success are high. We are equipped with the knowledge and logistics necessary to approach these elusive mammals. The Pudú

The Monito del Monte

A nocturnal marsupial, a true “living fossil” that has not evolved in millennia. Its presence will transport you to prehistoric times.

Darwin's Fox

Also known as the Chilote Fox, the curious canine in the greatest danger of extinction in the world, exclusive to the island, reigns at the top of the food chain of these forests.

The Huillín

The elusive freshwater otter, found only in the rivers and lakes of northern Patagonia, in severe danger of extinction due to its recent hunting for fur.

The Kodkod

The utmost rarity, which in these forests predominates in its melanism. Being a small, dark, nocturnal animal that lives in the densest forests of the world, among the treetops, makes it one of the most cryptic felines that inhabit this Planet.

Tracker.
Photographer and local raised in the park’s coastal area. Coming from a family of hunters, he has reinvented his role as a tracker, now hunting only with his camera.

Guide and Tracker.
With 4 years of experience as a park ranger in Tepuhueico, Manuel is also a talented nature photographer.
